Global ocean freight costs rise

Price increase starting from June 1st, up to a maximum of $7800!

Hapag Lloyd has issued a price increase notice, which will take effect from June 1st.


The global freight rate hike (GRI) will soon be implemented for routes from the Far East basic ports to the west coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean * * basic ports, effective from June 1, 2025, until further notice (Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands effective from June 26, 2025).

The details are as follows:



Far East to Mexico West Coast:

Current Rates:

  • 20’ DRY: USD 2,600

  • 40’ DRY: USD 3,100

  • 40’ NOR: USD 2,500


New Rates:

  • 20’ DRY: USD 4,400

  • 40’ DRY: USD 4,800

  • 40’ NOR: USD 4,200


Far East to South America West Coast:

Current Rates:

  • 20’ DRY: USD 2,600

  • 40’ DRY: USD 3,100

  • 40’ NOR: USD 2,500


New Rates:

  • 20’ DRY: USD 4,400

  • 40’ DRY: USD 4,800

  • 40’ NOR: USD 4,100


Far East to Central America West Coast:

Current Rates:

  •  20’ DRY: USD 3,200

  • 40’ DRY: USD 4,000

  • 40’ NOR: USD 3,900


New Rates:

  • 20’ DRY: USD 5,200

  • 40’ DRY: USD 6,000

  • 40’ NOR: USD 5,900


Far East to Caribbean:

Current Rates:

  • 20’ DRY: USD 5,000

  • 40’ DRY: USD 5,800
